How long does it take to get to Disney Springs and the Boardwalk from Port Orleans French Quarter?

Hey there, Melinda! Welcome to planDisney! We're so happy you stopped by to bring us your question!

Melinda, you’re going to love staying at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. Between the charming cobblestone streets, the jazzy vibes, and those must-try Mickey-shaped beignets, it’s got serious laissez les bons temps rouler energy. Now, let’s talk about getting to Disney Springs and Disney’s BoardWalk!

The easiest and most scenic way to get to Disney Springs is by water taxi down the Sassagoula River, which takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Boats typically arrive every 20 minutes, so keep that in mind. If you’d rather take a bus, the ride is about the same. It takes about 15 minutes, depending on traffic.

There’s no direct route from French Quarter to Disney’s BoardWalk, but it’s still super doable. Your best bet is to take a bus to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (15 to 20 minutes) and then either walk the 10 to 15-minute scenic pathway, or you can hop on a Friendship Boat for a 15-minute cruise.

If you want to get there faster and more directly, you can use rideshare services like Uber or Lyft, or book a Minnie Van through the Lyft app for a little extra Disney magic. This is a great option if you’re on a tight schedule or just want a more convenient ride straight to the action.

Pro tip: The My Disney Experience app is your best friend when it comes to Disney transportation. It’ll give you turn-by-turn directions, travel options, and estimated travel times based on real-time conditions. No matter how you’re getting around, I always recommend giving yourself at least 90 minutes to travel anywhere in Walt Disney World. It’s a big place, and between wait times, travel time, and possible detours (like stopping for a DOLE Whip… no judgment), it’s always good to have a buffer.

Hope this helps, and have the best time! Let me know if you have any other questions. I love helping make Disney days extra magical.
