How long will it take me to get from animal kingdom lodge to typhoon lagoon on the bus? Are there any shortcuts?

    Hi Jess!

Welcome to planDisney! Heading to the water park sounds like the PERFECT way to spend a summer day in Disney World.

At this time, the resort buses to the water parks include a transfer. So, from Animal Kingdom Lodge, you’ll hop on the bus for Typhoon Lagoon. That bus will stop at Disney Springs, and then you’ll transfer to a second bus to complete the trip to Typhoon Lagoon.

With that being said, I’d give yourself about an hour to complete the trip.  Of course, that time could be a little quicker if you don’t have to wait as long at the bus stops!

I always like to check the My Disney Experience app for the bus times before leaving my room to see when I can expect the bus to arrive at the resort. Just click the 3 lines in the bottom right corner, scroll down and click Hotel Reservations, then click Bus Times. That feature will become available on your arrival day.

Although the transfer does add some time to the trip, it worked out great at the end of our water park day because it gave us an excuse to grab dinner at Disney Springs. That’s something that we don’t always take the time to do on our Disney vacations, so it was nice to enjoy a restaurant there.

If you’re hoping to get to Typhoon Lagoon quicker, my recommendation is to book a Minnie Van using the Lyft app. Although this is an additional cost, the Minnie Van will pick you up right at your resort and take you directly to Typhoon Lagoon. It’s only about a 15-minute drive that way.

I hope you have the best trip! If any other questions pop up as you continue to plan, feel free to come back and visit us at planDisney!
