Hey there, Jeffrey! In just a few days, you'll be walking down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. I love it when my "Countdown to Disney" is in the single digits! When the number hits zero and I wake up at Walt Disney World Resort, it's time to snap on the MagicBand+ and enter "Vacation Mode."
I'm glad you came to planDisney with this question about managing your MagicBands. You have a few options and what is best for you is a personal preference.
You can manage all seven bands. Updating a MagicBand+ requires charging the band, linking it to a MyDisney account and pairing it with a cell phone with the My Disney Experience app. The app has a few steps to update a MagicBand+.
- Click on the 3 horizontal lines (☰) in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Select "MagicBands & Cards."
- Click on the name of the Guest whose MagicBand+ you'd like to update.
- Select the MagicBand+ and scroll to "MagicBand+ Updates."
- Connect the MagicBand+ by tapping the button on the back and keeping it near your phone.
- If the app's screen shows a green checkmark, it's up-to-date. If there is an option to update, select it.
If you do not want to manage all seven MagicBands, you can transfer the MyDisney accounts to be self-managed by anyone in your group who is 13 or older. Since it sounds like you have already assigned the MagicBands to them, there are a few simple steps to convert their accounts. For this option, they will need to download the My Disney Experience app and sign in with their email address.
- Open your app and click on the 3 horizontal lines (☰) in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Scroll to "Account" and select "Profile."
- Click on the "Family & Friends List" tab.
- Choose the profile you want to convert, select "Send Email" and enter the email address for that person.
- Ask them to open the email and follow the directions to accept the account.
Once they complete this, their MagicBand+, theme park tickets and plans will appear in their app. They will then be able to update their own MagicBand+ and wake up early to try for a Virtual Queue. If they are 18 or older, they can make purchases in the app, like buying Lightning Lane passes and mobile food ordering. Teens 13-17 will have to wait a few years for these superpowers.
I converted my teens' accounts so they can manage their own, but they have phones and like to be a part of the planning. If it is not the same with your family, managing them all together may work best for you.
With only a few more sleeps before your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth, I wish you sweet dreams and Pixie Dust!
See 'Ya Real Soon!
