Hi there, Julie. Welcome back to
planDisney. I’m happy to help you link up with your boyfriend to see each other’s accounts. The process is quite a bit different from
Walt Disney World, if you’re used to using the
My Disney Experience App (MDX), but I can show you how it works.
Whoa! You’re only a little less than three weeks from your trip. How exciting! You’ve chosen an excellent time to visit. More on that later. Let’s talk about the
Disneyland Mobile App. The most noticeable difference between the Disneyland Mobile App and MDX is this exact issue. On MDX, you can link up with and designate individuals as “Friends and Family.” That’s not really a thing at the
Disneyland Resort. Instead, we assign a name to a ticket or pass and simply link those to one another.
Let’s say you and your boyfriend both download the Disneyland Mobile App and create an account, and you’re the one who purchases the tickets. You will assign a name to each ticket during the purchasing process. Technically, the name doesn’t really matter, but it makes it easier to keep track. Now you’ll want to link your boyfriend’s ticket to his Disneyland Mobile App. Have your boyfriend do this by pressing the (☰) in the lower-right corner of the home screen and then “Tickets & Passes.” There will be a blue (+) in the upper-right corner that presents the option to “Link Tickets & Passes.” Click that and then follow the prompts. The easiest option is to have your boyfriend scan his ticket from your “Tickets & Passes” page in the app. Add your ticket to his app as well, so he can help with dining reservations and Lightning Lanes.
Now that your tickets are linked to each other’s apps, they'll show up as options when you add
Lightning Lane purchases,
dining reservations, and other experiences in the app.
I mentioned earlier that the name doesn’t really matter. That’s because what really matters is the picture you take at the gate. If your boyfriend scans his ticket, but you take the picture, from that point on, you’ll need to use the ticket with his name on it. It’s basically a ticket number that is assigned to a picture when the ticket is first activated. The name is just there to identify the ticket easily.
Julie, what a great time to visit. Did you know that you’re arriving just a few days after the new
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run mission launches into action? This new version will feature Mando and Grogu, just as the new movie is released on May 22. Be sure to set your course for Galaxy’s Edge and jump to lightspeed.
Another great part of visiting this time of year is the
full lineup of nighttime spectaculars, including Fantasmic!, Tapestry of Happiness, and Wondrous Journeys Fireworks. I hope you get to experience all these great shows and more on your trip. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to bring more questions to us at
planDisney.
I hope you have a magical day!
Corey
