Welcome to
planDisney, Cory! It looks like your upcoming trip to
Walt Disney World Resort is just around the river bend. How exciting! Springtime is my favorite time of year to visit, with the magic of the theme parks in full bloom.
Lightning Lane passes are a great way to maximize the magic of your visit to the Walt Disney World theme parks. They reduce the time spent waiting in lines and help you plan your days. If you are staying in a
Disney Resort hotel, you can begin making your Lightning Lane purchases up to 7 days in advance. If you are not staying in a Disney Resort hotel or other eligible select hotel, you can make your Lightning Lane purchases up to 3 days in advance.
Lightning Lane passes are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Once you have purchased the Lightning Lane passes for a member of your family, you will not be able to swap or transfer them. If you are planning to have only one adult ride an attraction with your son, I recommend deciding which parent will ride before you purchase your Lightning Lane selections. If you are interested in
Rider Switch, you can read more in
this fabulous answer that describes the Rider Switch process explained by my
fellow planDisney Panelist, Kay.
I hope you have an unforgettable time at
The Most Magical Place on Earth with your family next month, Cory! Be sure to check out the
EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival during your visit. It is magical to stroll around
EPCOT, soaking in the sunshine, admiring the gardens in bloom, and checking out the fun topiaries of your favorite Disney Characters. If we can answer any more of your vacation questions, please bring them here to planDisney. We are happy to help you find answers.
Happy Planning!
