How does rider swap work with Lightning Lane? We have two adults and two children. Only one child is tall enough for everything. Will the older child go with the waiting adult for a second ride like regular rider swap? Or will the waiting adult ride alone?

Hi there Hanna, Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for stopping by with your excellent question. I'm thrilled to assist you! How exciting that you're planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort! You are sure to make awesome memories at The Most Magical Place on Earth!

When our twins were younger, my husband and I faced the same dilemma. We love the big rides at Disney, but our kids were too small to join us. Hanna, as you know, Disney has a fantastic solution for this called Rider Switch. Rider Switch is a service offered at Walt Disney World that allows adults to take turns waiting with children who are either too young or unwilling to ride a particular attraction. Rider Switch will allow one (or more) adult to wait with a non-riding child while the other adult rides. Then, the adults can switch without having to wait in line again. This way, everyone in your group can enjoy the ride without having to wait in line twice or having to lose out on their Multi Pass.

    To use rider switch:
    1. Once at the attraction, approach the greeting Cast Member with your entire party. At least one adult member of your party and the Guests who are not riding will be issued a Ride Switch entitlement by the Cast Member and asked to wait in a designated area (usually outside of the attraction).
    2. The group is split into two groups. Group 1 will ride first. Group 2 will stay with the non-riding child.
    3. After riding the attraction, group1 locates group 2. Then, group 1 takes over supervision of the non-riding children.
    4. Group 2 enters and boards the attraction without having to wait in the regular queue a second time. The Rider Switch entitlement must be validated by a Cast Member at this time.
Quick tip - if the person in group 2 waited alone with the child or non-riding Guest, one Guest may join the person that waited alone.

I hope this information helps you prepare for an exciting visit to Walt Disney World Resort, Hanna! Thank you again for visiting planDisney. We'll see ya real soon!
