Hiya Cindy!
Welcome to planDisney. Your magical vacation is getting very close, you must be getting so excited! Using
Lightning Lane Passes are so slick, you're going to love utilizing this time saving option on your upcoming trip. Let's talk about a booking strategy for you.
First, if you have not purchased Lightning Lane Passes before... I recommend a dry run. In the
My Disney Experience app, make sure you can see all of your reservations and in particular your theme park tickets. These can be found by navigating from the home screen to hamburger menu on the lower right, then "My Tickets & Passes."
Next, find where you'll be launching the LL purchase, and peruse the pass options. You can do this without making a purchase, and before your 7 day booking window opens. Again from the app's home screen, go to the lower right hamburger menu and select "Lightning Lane Passes". After selecting either Single Pass or Multi Pass, choose a sample date, and take a peek at the options. Under Multi Pass, pay attention to the tiers.... you'll be allowed one top tier selection, and two selections from the remaining list.
Let's get your practically perfect plan ready!
You are on point, some passes go much faster than others and there is a set allotment for the day. Take a deep breath... you got this! Log on just a few minutes before the booking window opens at 7:00 pm Eastern Time. My
fellow panelist Jeremy likes the strategy of booking last day to first because as he describes, "the advantage is everyone is booking the first day of their trip while you work backwards with less resistance and broader scope of attractions and times."
This is the order I would book:
- Purchase Hollywood Studios first! Slinky Dog Dash and Mickey and Minnie's Railway seem to run out of availability earliest, followed by Tower of Terror.
- In EPCOT, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure is a top attraction that fills up quickly.
- In Magic Kingdom, most popular rides include Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Jungle Cruise, and Peter Pan.
One thing I love about Lightning Lane Multi Pass is that you reserve 3 attractions initially, but will also have the opportunity to grab another one in the park as soon as you tap in to the first attraction. And the best part is, with booking that 4th pass (and hopefully 5th!)... no tier restrictions apply. So your goal is to book experiences that are most popular, and will "run out" soonest on your park day.
Ok, here's where my nerdy Disney planning side comes out, Cindi - make a list before the pixie-dusted booking moment arrives. I hope this helps you get the most of your magical park days! Please visit us again at planDisney any time.
Wishing you the Best. Trip. Ever.
