Are life jackets available onboard the Disney Fantasy cruise ship for all guests? Are there enough for all guests? Where are they? Are they in the staterooms?

    Hi Sharon,

Welcome to planDisney! I'm so happy you stopped by so that I can put your mind at ease about safety equipment and procedures on all the ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, including the Disney Fantasy.

I believe you are asking about life vests that would be used in case of an emergency.

You will indeed find enough emergency flotation vests for each member of your party in your stateroom. Before the ship can sail away from the port, each person on board must attend the mandatory Guest Assembly Drill to hear all the safety instructions.

You will be assigned to an assembly station, based on your stateroom number. You'll find your assembly station location on the back of the stateroom door, in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App and on your Key to the World card.

During this assembly, cast members will demonstrate the use of the life vests -- which are equipped with lights and whistles -- and give instructions on how to proceed in the unlikely event of an emergency evacuation. If you cannot, for some reason, return to your room for your life vests in case of an evacuation, cast members have extras to hand out.

If it gives you added peace of mind, Sharon, the evacuation vessels are fully enclosed, motorized boats stocked with provisions. There is capacity to evacuate every guest and crew member with room to spare.

Some people grumble a bit about attending the assembly (it is mandatory and each guest must check in), but it only takes a few minutes, and I always leave feeling even more assured that the Disney Cruise Line, like Walt Disney World and all the Disney properties around the world, puts safety as its most important value.

As soon as the assembly is done, head up to the top decks for the sail-away party, confident you understand all the safety rules.

(And Sharon, if I have misunderstood and you were asking about floatation vests that can be used in the pools on the ship, I apologize. There are life jackets near all the pools that are available for use by children and adults. And there are life vests available on Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point as well.)

Thanks for your question, and please let us know if you have any others as you prepare to set sail on the Fantasy.

    Enjoy,

    Wilma
