Last minute hotel find. Going in a week and no rooms available really! Is it better to call for last minute resort stays?

    Hey Melissa,

Welcome to planDisney! Some of the best Walt Disney World vacations stem from a spontaneous decision to just “go.” There’s so much magic to experience and fun to be had that it is never a bad idea to pack a bag and head to the Most Magical Place on Earth.

While there are more than 25 distinct hotels in the Disney Resorts Collection, sometimes last-minute availability can be spotty. This is especially true in early summer when a great deal of school summer vacations have already started. However, don’t fret! I do think if you’re willing to be flexible, you can find something that will work.

My first suggestion would be to call the Disney Resort Reservations line. Cast members will be more than happy to check availability for you across all of the resorts. If you’re willing to book a split stay, you may find that your travel dates can be best accommodated between two resorts. Remember that cast members at Bell Services will be happy to help you get your luggage from your first resort to your second one.

Melissa, you can also consider a stay at a Good Neighbor hotel. These are non-Disney properties located very close to Walt Disney World that offer great lodging and amenities. Some even offer a few cool Disney perks.

Melissa I hope that somewhere between these two suggestions lies your magically spontaneous visit. Be sure to download the My Disney Experience app if you haven't already to prepare. While you're managing your plans, don't forget to check out the Disney World Hours & Events Calendar. This is one of your most important resources that you'll need to use while you're planning your time. Additionally, since your 60-day advance dining and 7-day lightning lane reservation windows have passed, you may find limited availability for both.

For dining, I’d suggest joining the walk-up waitlist for any restaurant that you’re hoping to visit but can’t get reservations for. I’ve been lucky enough to snag a table on a few last-minute occasions this way. You also have the option to mobile order quick-service meals during your stay.

As for Lightning Lane passes, (if you plan to use this service) be prepared to book the earliest experience you can for each day. This way you’ll unlock the ability to book additional attractions as early as possible after you arrive at the parks.

I hope this information is helpful! If you need any additional help with planning, please stop by and visit us here at planDisney again! We’ll see ya real soon.
