Do you have to take the Key to the World card OUT of a plastic holder attached to a lanyard in order for it to work/be read?

    Hello there, Jenna!

Welcome to planDisney and thanks for dropping in with your question. It sounds like you're thinking ahead and planning a visit to Walt Disney World Resort. I love the idea of using a lanyard to carry your Key to the World card! Since Key to the World cards and some other methods of park entry utilize RFID technology, I think it's very likely that you could scan your card without taking it out of the plastic sleeve.

Did you know that you have other options for theme park entry and Disney Resort hotel room access? If you want something wearable and easy to scan, I encourage you to check out the new MagicBand+. These new bands allow you to enter theme parks, unlock Resort hotel room doors, and charge purchases to your Disney Resort hotel folio, just like Key to the World cards. However, they also interact with the Disney Fab 50 Characters Collection and allow you to experience the nighttime spectaculars in a magical new way!

Another great option available to you is Disney MagicMobile service. A Disney MagicMobile pass can easily be added to your mobile phone's digital wallet and provides contactless theme park admission. Also, this service allows you to link Disney PhotoPass images to your My Disney Experience account and charge purchases to your Disney Resort hotel folio. To set up a Disney MagicMobile pass, first, ensure that your Disney Resort hotel reservations and valid theme park admission and theme park reservations are linked to your My Disney Experience account. Next, open the My Disney Experience mobile app on your mobile device, select "Disney MagicMobile" from the menu, and tap the "+" button in the upper right-hand corner. Follow the prompts to create your digital pass and save your Disney MagicMobile pass to your mobile device's digital wallet. That's it - you're good to go!

Jenna, I hope this information proves useful to you as you continue your vacation planning process. Please feel free to reach out to planDisney with any additional planning questions you may have along the way. We're eager to assist and are here to help you make your vacation a magical and memorable one!

    See ya real soon,
