Hello, I'm visiting in December for a surprise trip with my fiance to celebrate our engagement. I'm looking for ways to make the trip extra magical and special, as he has never been before. Thank you!

Why hello there Ingrida, I’m delighted to welcome you to planDisney!

First of all, I want to wish you Congratulations on your recent engagement! After we got engaged we also spent time around Walt Disney World Resort celebrating and though Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons don’t currently provide engagement packages that can be booked, we did use the suggestions that they had available to inspire couples to book experiences on their own. Here are some of my personal recommendations that you both might enjoy together, especially if it's his first time:

    • Making any visit to a Disney Destination for the first time as an adult can be daunting if your fiancé doesn't know what to expect, so I recommend focusing on making this surprise trip as special as possible with things you can find in the Enchanting Extras Collection. Something that I always recommend to every couple before their wedding day is to book a Capture Your Moment session in Magic Kingdom Park to have a romantic private practice run, which can prepare you for all the posing you'll do in the photos you'll be taking on the big day! They have special props for couples and you can even choose to do this in any of the four theme parks, but I definitely recommend booking back-to-back sessions for extra time if you also have Memory Maker purchased for your visit just for all of the photos you'll be able to download afterward!
    • In my experience, our Character pals have always seemed extra excited to celebrate alongside us when we told them we'd just gotten engaged, so booking a Character Dining experience might be the best idea for him to be able to meet a whole bunch in one sitting without necessarily having to wait in several queues to do so. Locations like Topolino's Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera or a buffet like Hollywood & Vine can ensure that you easily check off some major VIP Characters over the course of one meal!
    • The one thing that always seems to be the most memorable for first-timers is watching fireworks here at the theme parks, so whether it's seeing Fantasmic! for that all-encompassing Disney story experience or perhaps shows featuring more romantic moments like Happily Ever After and Luminous The Symphony of Us - you'll definitely want to make this a major part of your trip. Whenever possible, being able to book a special spot to watch during a Fireworks Dessert Party (and avoid having to compete with the December crowds) can also give you some room to get cozy and celebrate the start of your lives together!
Who knows? If you're anything like us, you could end up being inspired to have a Disney Wedding of your own and you're always welcome to come back and ask us for any more tips for your romantic trip! (Don't forget to ask for a "Happily Ever After" button from a Cast Member!)

Here's to a magical marriage ahead!
