Hi there Leslie, I'm thrilled to welcome you to planDisney as you prepare for the big day in May!
Now I just got married at and had
a Disney Wedding here at Walt Disney World Resort myself last year, and in the years leading to the big day I spent a lot of time researching the ins and outs of the place
where my husband and I would end up tying the knot! A big part of my planning involved figuring out how a same-sex couple like ourselves would decide between the two private vestibules where we'd be waiting just prior to the ceremony, and I'm happy to provide you with the most accurate up-to-date information that can be helpful for you both:
- The "Dream" vestibule is just off to the right of the main doors leading into Disney's Wedding Pavilion and has a private restroom as well as assorted seating that includes a mirror, a couch, chairs and ottomans that can comfortably fit less than 10 people. This is also the smaller of the two vestibules as well as the shorter distance to travel before the ceremony and currently includes a water dispenser as well as select toiletries like mouthwash and lotion just in case! (For many weddings where there is one bride and one groom, this is often where grooms will patiently wait until it is their turn to be lined up for their entrances.) As you can imagine in our case, my husband and I were given the option in a very inclusive and considerate way by Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings team from our planner Carol to the incredible coordinators on the day - and we ultimately chose to keep this room open for our officiants and ring bearer to wait.
- The "Believe" vestibule is directly opposite the doors to Disney's Wedding Pavilion and despite being a further distance to travel before your entrances, it is a much larger space overall. Here you'll currently find a large full-length mirror opposite a wall of smaller mirrors for anyone wanting to touch up any final details like hair or makeup. For many weddings, it makes sense that this is where someone like a bride wearing a large gown would be better off waiting just due to the sheer amount of space to move in, along with armchairs and chaises that would accommodate the additional maneuverability you might need! There's also currently a water dispenser for both warm and cold water, as well as two larger restrooms with similar toiletry items and in the end my husband and I thought this one was far more elegant and decided to wait here together.
It may be helpful to know that you may not necessarily have much time in the vestibules ahead of your ceremony, so I wouldn't plan on utilizing these spaces to get ready in - more like a spot to wait out of sight briefly before you make your entrances. I personally highly recommend
attending one of the Open House events coming up, which was very helpful for us to take a peek and make some important decisions and in the meantime, don't hesitate to come back to ask us about more wedding tips here at planDisney!
Happy planning for your Happily Ever After!
