Hi, I’m traveling to Yacht Club with my 2 dogs. One is very protective. They’ll both be in their kennel when we are gone, but my concern is the room check. The 1 dog may act a little scary if she feels it’s an “intruder.” How will this affect our stay?

Hi Kelly, and welcome back to planDisney! As a fellow dog parent, bringing my pup to Disney World would be a dream come true! A few years ago, I stayed with my friend and her dogs at the Fort Wilderness Cabins and it was so much fun having them along for the adventure!

In my experience, Cast Members generally avoid coming into a room with unattended dogs unless there’s an emergency. I just spoke to a Cast Member to double-check, and they confirmed that Housekeeping will call each day to schedule their visit for when you’ll be there to take your pups for a walk. However, I’d recommend calling Housekeeping before you leave in the morning, so you don’t miss their call, and putting the “Room Occupied” door hanger on the handle when your pups are alone.

If you have any long theme park days planned, you might also consider bringing your pups to Best Friends Pet Hotel for the day. They’re right on Disney World property and have both daycare and overnight boarding services. There are even villa and suite options with a flatscreen television, webcam, and private outdoor patio! My friend boarded her pups there towards the end of our trip when we knew we’d be busy with her birthday celebration.

You and your pups are going to have such a magical stay at Yacht Club! There are also lots of food options in the area if you want to grab something to eat back in the room with your dogs. One of my favorites at Yacht Club is Ale & Compass, which you can mobile order through the My Disney Experience app (search for Ale & Compass Restaurant To Go).

If this is your dogs' first visit to Disney World, be sure to pick up a First Visit button from the front desk! While you may not want to attach it to their collar or leash (because of the pin on the back), you can put it on their bag or turn it into a fridge magnet when you get home (I love to do this with my Disney celebration buttons!).

I’m wishing you and your pups the most pawsome stay ever at Yacht Club! If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
