I’m taking my daughter to Disney to celebrate her 21st birthday. We are staying at the art of animation hotel, I would like to know what special things and tips you can suggest while we are there?

    Welcome to planDisney, Virginia!

What a way to celebrate a 21st birthday--at The Most Magical Place on Earth!

First, a very happy birthday to your daughter from all of us at planDisney. You both must be so excited for this monumental trip!

As soon as you arrive at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, ask a Cast Member for a Celebration button. They can personalize the Happy Birthday button or the I'm Celebrating button with that special number 21. Throughout your stay, Cast Members and guests alike will wish the birthday girl well. She will feel like a princess, indeed. You can also order something special from Magical Floral & Gifts. Such a lovely surprise!

We let the birthday celebrant pick a day of fun, including a meal at their Table-Service restaurant of choice. Pick the park, the rides, and the restaurant, and we plan the day around them. You can even order a Specialty Cake to be presented at one of the many participating restaurants. I've also subtly informed the Cast Member at check-in that we'd love to have a birthday candle added to dessert--just to be sure the person of honor is fully embarrassed...I mean celebrated.

Virginia, your stay at Art of Animation puts you right along the Disney Skyliner--this is the absolutely perfect way to get you and the Birthday Girl right into the backdoor entrance to EPCOT. You'll be entering World Showcase right between the United Kingdom and France, making this the perfect place to begin your tour. Begin the day with a visit to Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, then enjoy a beverage and a pastry from Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie. Keep your eye on your My Disney Experience app, too; Princess Aurora enjoys spending time in the garden gazebo that's right there. A birthday meet and greet is a great way to start your day!

Be sure to stop for everything the birthday girl might enjoy--shopping for exotic trinkets in Morocco and Japan, gelato in Italy, crystal in Germany, Honey Hibiscus Tea in China, perfume in Norway, then a bite to eat at La Cantina de San Angel in Mexico. One thing I highly recommend for someone newly 21 is a reservation at GEO-82. Because this lovely lounge is only open to guests 21 and up, she'll feel special celebrating in style there.

Another fun way to celebrate is by booking a fireworks dessert party. While I love the magical snacks and delicious drinks served at Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties: Pre-Party, the highlight of this event is, of course, the prime reserved viewing area for Happily Ever After. It is truly magical!

Virginia, as you plan all of those pixie-dusted moments for that special birthday visit, be sure to send additional questions our way. We love to help!
