First, Andrew, even before you get to the Starting Line, congratulations are in order! Registration for
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend goes more quickly than Eliud Kipchoge chasing that 2:00 marathon goal. I'm thrilled you'll be lacing up your sneakers and enjoying every magical mile.
I am so excited to stay at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort this upcoming Marathon Weekend while attempting my first Dopey Challenge. Not only is it an iconic resort with gorgeous views of Magic Kingdom Park, but the
Disney Monorail is typically running this weekend for the half and full marathons. It's a practically perfect reason to stay at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, too. While I have taken the buses to many
runDisney events, the idea of gliding through the Highway in the Sky to EPCOT to start has my heart racing. Until the final details are released, we won't know for sure if the Monorail will be an option, but it has been in the past for these long-distance races.
Typically, you will get information from
runDisney emailed a few weeks before the event. I keep the
runDisney expo page bookmarked, too. It will be updated with important information for athletes, including transportation, about the time your half-marathon training plan moves into the "taper" phase.
No matter what, you'll have a jolly holiday with the resort that makes me think of Mary Poppins. If you have family or friends staying with you, they'll have the best spot to cheer you on as you pass the Grand Floridian, and they should be able to easily hop over to the Transportation & Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom Park if they have dreams of seeing you run down Main Street, U.S.A.
Andrew, if you have any other questions as you prepare for your race day or visit to the most magical place to race, please speed back by
planDisney. We're cheering for you!
Every Mile is Magic!
