Hi. I’m planning a vacation and my flight will arrive around 1AM so I will be at the resort around 1:30AM. Do I need to pay for the day before? I want to see if there is any option to do early check in since I won’t be using the whole day.

Hola Nicole and welcome to planDisney. In a few days, you will head to the "Place Where Dreams Come True" to live out Disney history and create new memories for yourself. It is an enchanting time for everyone. Be sure to catch the Happily Ever After fireworks at Magic Kingdom Park. If there is anything that brings a tear to my eye it is the sequence of songs and sites from that show. Merida, Moana, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Tinker Bell are my favorite parts.

Disney Resorts Collection hotels are reserved per night. The official check-in time is 3:00 PM (4:00 PM for Deluxe Villas) but rooms have been known to be ready sooner. Guests arriving in the wee hours of the morning are still required to pay for the entire evening beginning at 3:00 PM the previous day. We have had many trips where we have arrived around 1:30 AM in the morning because we have driven instead of flying. We are just thankful that there is a bed for us to sleep in for a few hours before we head to visit Mickey, Stitch, Chewbacca, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and the rest of our favorite Disney Characters. If you are looking to save a few dollars then you may want to consider a different hotel however there is nothing better than waking up at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, having a cup of coffee or some Mickey waffles, and then heading for fun and adventure in the theme parks on complimentary Walt Disney World Resort Transportation.

planDisney Pro Tip: Be sure to use Online Check-In so you can head straight to your room once you arrive. The My Disney Experience App will show you room details as well as the ability to unlock your door through the app. I am glad we can skip the front desk when we arrive late because my tired and cranky children really need to get to bed quickly and not wait for me to check in with the front desk.

Nicole, have your autograph books ready and a large magic marker.  Our Disney friends find it easier to hold a thicker writing instrument rather than a thin pen. Have all the fun, all the laughs, and eat all the food. Please feel free to write me back directly with any follow-up questions.

    Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
