Hey, howdy, hey Tracy, and welcome to planDisney. Disney Gift Cards are my way of keeping track of my spending and not going over budget at the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” We have paid for entire vacations with
Disney Gift Cards and see them as an essential piece of our Disney vacation planning.
Guests may use a Disney Gift Card or another Disney-accepted major credit card brand to pay for Resort Folio charges but as of now, they are not the default for Resort Folio charges. A Disney-accepted major credit card must be linked to your account at the
Disney Resorts Collection Hotel front desk, through the
My Disney Experience App through
Online Check-In, or at the
Walt Disney World Resort website. Linking a credit card is required because Disney Gift cards have a $1000 limit and there must be enough available credit to cover any charges. You may pay your Resort Folio charges daily or the morning you checkout to prevent charges on your credit card. I typically approach the front desk the evening before we checkout to ensure there is a zero balance checkout day. Keep in mind that you may still charge to your folio until 11:59 PM on your checkout day but those charges will be applied to the credit card on file. To keep it simple, we just use Disney Gift Cards checkout day.
planDisney Pro Tip: When using the My Disney Experience App to
Mobile Order food, you can charge directly to your Disney Gift Card instead of putting it on your Resort Folio.
Tracy, your September journey in a few days will truly be enchanted. Please feel free to
write me back directly with any follow-up questions. I am here to help!
Enjoy making many Magical Memories!
