Hi! I'm planning a trip with my husband and our two friends for December. What are your favorite dining locations (without characters!) for adults where we could also get a glimpse of fun holiday decorations? We want to make this trip extra special!

    Hi there, Michelle!

Welcome back to planDisney! There's nothing quite like channeling your inner child with adult friends in The Most Magical Place on Earth. Add in the cheer of the holiday season, and you're sure to have an unforgettable vacation!

When people ask why I repeatedly return to Walt Disney World Resort as an adult without children, the incredible dining options are consistently at the top of the list. If you're looking to enjoy unparalled holiday decor in addition to a delicious meal, you can't go wrong with the restaurants at any of the Disney Deluxe Resort hotels. The already exquisite lobbies of these gems are trimmed to perfection with Christmas trees and gingerbread houses. My personal favorite combinations of decor and dining can be found at Disney's Wilderness Lodge's Whispering Canyon Cafe (the breakfast is top-tier and don't skip the bottomless milkshakes) and Sanaa at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge for the Indian-style bread service and savanna views.

Since you're a party of mature Mouseketeers, I also think you'd love a progressive dinner along the Resort Monorail allowing you to maximize the Christmas magic by stopping at three different deluxe resorts. You could enjoy appetizers at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa's Enchanted Rose, a main course at Steakhouse 71 in Disney's Contemporary Resort, and cap off the evening with a DOLE Whip at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.

If a fun vibe is what you're hoping to enjoy, don't miss Disney's Hollywood Studios' 50's Prime Time Café in all of its kitchsy-mid century tinsel-covered glory or the eclectic well-traveled holiday decor of Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen in Magic Kingdom Park. Both of these are family favorites in my house! Although you won't find a full meal here, I've also heard great things about the Christmas decor at Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar in Disney Springs.

No matter where you choose to dine, you're sure to be immersed in the magic of the season at Walt Disney World Resort. I hope you have a wonderful vacation full of magical memories with your friends. Don't hesitate to stop back by with any additional questions that arise as you are planning. I'm happy to help!
