I’m looking at purchasing the 70th anniversary tour at Disneyland. Where is the premium seating for the parade located? Is it on the ground or seated? We have someone in our party who is not able to get up and down for the ground.

Hi Rachelle! Welcome back to planDisney. Your visit is just around the corner, and the A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Guided Tour at Disneyland Resort sounds like such a fantastic way to experience Disneyland Park with a little extra storytelling woven in. I’m happy to help you get a clearer picture of the parade viewing so you can plan comfortably for your whole group.

You’re absolutely right that the “A Story of Celebration” guided tour includes reserved viewing for Paint the Night on the evening of your tour. The designated viewing area is typically located in Town Square Plaza, right across from the Disneyland Railroad Main Street Station. It’s a beautiful, classic setting, with the glowing floats making their way down Main Street, U.S.A. in full view.

For your planning, the most important detail is that this reserved viewing area is primarily ground-level viewing. Seating is not formally provided, so most Guests will either sit on the curb or stand behind those seated. There are some planters in the area that can offer limited raised seating, but these are first-come, first-served and not guaranteed. Because you have someone in your party who may have difficulty getting up and down, I would strongly recommend letting your tour guide know at the very beginning of your tour. They are wonderful about helping where they can and may be able to guide you toward the most accessible option within the reserved space.

Arriving a bit early to the viewing area will also make a big difference. Multiple tour groups often share this reserved section for the same performance, so giving yourself that extra time can help you secure one of the more comfortable spots (especially near those planter edges). It’s a bit like picking the perfect viewing spot for a parade along the route (a little early effort goes a long way in overall comfort).

As an additional option to keep in mind, if ground seating doesn’t feel like the right fit for your group, you may consider speaking with a Cast Member about alternate viewing areas along the parade route that better suit your needs. While these wouldn’t be part of the tour’s reserved section, they can sometimes offer more flexibility for Guests who prefer to remain seated on a bench or mobility device.

I hope this helps you feel more at ease as you prepare, Rachelle. With a little communication and a bit of early positioning, you’ll be set up to enjoy every glowing float and musical moment as it passes by. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney!

Wishing you a night filled with shimmering lights and unforgettable sights along Main Street, U.S.A.,
