Aloha, Vanessa! Welcome back to planDisney, and Welcome Home to a fellow
Disney Vacation Club Member. The 4th of July is just around the corner (where does the time go?!), and I will be happy to offer some tips for enjoying nighttime fireworks from a prime viewing location at
Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Let's get right to it!
The Polynesian is my absolute favorite place at
Walt Disney World Resort - it's our family's Home Resort and holds a special place in our hearts. It's the perfect spot for a Disney vacation, with convenient access to the theme parks and a relaxed, tropical setting where you can decompress after a busy day on the go!
It's common for Guests to flock to the Poly to catch the evening fireworks, as there is a practically perfect view from the resort. However, due to the larger-than-usual holiday crowds, access is limited on the 4th of July to those with a resort reservation. You're correct that you will need wristbands to access the beach, and you can pick those up at the Great Ceremonial House.
Even on a regular day, you will see folks staking out spots well in advance of the fireworks, so I would definitely plan to be settled well before showtime! There are a couple of locations that I would recommend for you, given that you'll also be navigating the crowds with a mobility device. There is a path that runs along the beach with some benches along it - if you can snag one early, the view is great and it tends to be a little less crowded than the area closer to the main pool.
At the new
Island Tower, there is a patio that also offers great views of the fireworks. I actually stumbled upon this last month - I was walking from the Grand Floridian to the Poly while
Happily Ever After was in progress, and wound up watching the end of the show from the patio. The music is piped in, and I could see everything!
Vanessa, I hope this information is helpful for your planning purposes and that you have a wonderful time celebrating the holiday with your nearest and dearest! Thanks for coming to see us again at planDisney, and please don't hesitate to send any last-minute questions our way.
Stay Magical,
Susan
