Hi Mabel,
Welcome to planDisney, and Happy Holidays! There is nothing more magical than the
holidays at Disney World, so I completely understand your desire to prolong the magic. I can’t believe that the holiday season is already upon us and that we will be packing up all of its decorations in just a few short weeks. I wish we could make it last just a little bit longer.
Disney’s dazzling decorations across the theme parks and Resort hotels will start coming down during the first week of January. This process takes some time because the décor is so wonderfully elaborate, but most of the magic will fade away by the second week. You may still spot a few twinkling trees and garlands here and there during your stay, but I wouldn’t plan any holiday-specific activities beyond the first of the year.
You may still see heavier crowds at the beginning of your trip since Disney World is a destination for New Year’s. I recommend making good use of
Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. These handy tools will help you cut down on wait times so you can experience even more of the attractions and thrilling rides on your wish list.
If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel during your trip, take full advantage of all the
benefits that come with staying on Disney property. One of these benefits is that you get priority access to purchasing Lightning Lanes 7 days before your vacation for the entire length of your trip. I like to log on first thing in the morning and have a list of all my advanced dining reservations in front of me so I can quickly snag Lightning Lane passes for my must-do attractions.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
