    I’d like to purchase a vacation as a gift for my sister. Can I use the discount from my Disney visa to book a vacation in her name? Will that cause a problem at checkin?

    Thanks for submitting your question to us and how wonderful of you to gift your sister a Disneyland Resort Vacation Package! That's going to be a present that she'll not soon forget!

    I had the opportunity to speak to a friendly Cast Member about this and I'd be happy to relay the information that I learned. You are absolutely able to use your Disney Rewards Visa Card to purchase a Disneyland Resort Vacation Package as a gift for your sister. She did have a few extra tips for you:

    • If you want this to be a complete surprise, you'll first need to confirm that your sister will be able to go over the dates that you book. Otherwise, it might help to have her on the line with you when you call to book. 
    • She would recommend booking directly through a Reservation Sales Agent at the Walt Disney Travel Company because you're purchasing it as a gift. They want to make sure to get all the names correct so there won't be an issue at check-in. Just call 1-866-844-9382 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. PT and mention that you're a Cardmember.
    • At the time of this writing, there are no active discounts on Vacation Packages for using your Disney Visa Card. However, the Cast Member did say that there might be some later this year. She recommended booking now to reserve the dates and, if a future discount is announced that would apply, call back and they can re-book with the new rates. Also, be sure to check the Offers and Discounts page yourself on occasion. You will receive a promotional APR of 0% for 6 months on select Disney vacation packages.
    • For an extra special sprinkle of pixie dust for your sister, you can even have your Disney Visa Card as the card on file when it's time for online check-in. If registered in that way, all incidental charges that are incurred during her stay would go to your card. Talk about all expenses paid!

    It's a great time to visit the Disneyland Resort and I hope that your sister has a truly memorable and magical trip to the Happiest Place on Earth!
