I'd like to plan a Disney cruise to Alaska with my family for July or August 2027. Can I get help with the planning? I would like this to be a memorable trip.

Ahoy, Susanne! Welcome to planDisney, where we aim to answer all of your Disney Cruise Line questions to help ensure smooth sailing once you step onboard.

Unfortunately, planDisney panelists cannot help you plan your entire cruise because we are not travel agents, but we are here to answer the questions that guests just like you submit and truly want to help you enjoy sailing where magic meets the sea! Since several of us have sailed on the Alaskan itineraries with our own families, we are here to share our personal experiences and opinions to help you make the most of your own family’s adventure.

If you are just starting to plan your sailing to Alaska for next summer, then I recommend considering the following three tips.

    1. Travel Documents. Disney Cruise Line uses Vancouver, Canada as the departure port for all of its Alaskan sailings, so you will need to make sure that everyone in the family has a passport or other required travel documentation. Be sure to get started on that process early if you will need to apply for any passports or need to renew them.
    2. Two Ships to Choose From. This summer, the Disney Magic is joining the Disney Wonder for the first time in Alaska and the pair is already set for another summer of double the Alaskan itineraries in 2027. That means that you will need to look at the itineraries offered and pick which ship you would like to sail on.
    3. Port Adventures. In order to truly experience the beauty of Alaska, you will want to book Port Adventures in the ports of call to explore everything that the Last Frontier has to offer. Whether you are looking for cultural experiences or more interested in truly adventurous excursions, there is something for everyone. I definitely recommend taking a look at the Port Adventures to help you determine which itinerary would be the best for your family.

The summer 2027 itineraries are currently open for booking, so you can get started with your plans now.

If you have any specific questions about the ships, ports of call, or are looking for Port Adventure recommendations, then please submit your follow-up questions. We really are here to help at planDisney and would love to point you in the right direction. In fact, I will be setting sail for Alaska again on the Disney Wonder later this summer and am happy to answer whatever questions you may have. Feel free to reach out to me directly or to any of my other planDisney pals. Happy sailing!
