David from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Will guests staying at any of the WDW Resorts be notified by E-Mail if the Skyliner is closed during our stay-of 1/18/25 thru 1/25/25 ? Also will the WDW app list the closures/refurbishments of all attractions including the skyline ? Thanks

    Hi David, welcome to planDisney!

I’m so excited about your upcoming visit to the Walt Disney World Resort on the East Coast (and Best Coast, as Melissa H would say)! One of my favorite aspects of staying at a Disney Resort hotel is taking advantage of the Disney Skyliner, one of the best modes of complimentary Disney transportation offered, and Susan C would agree. It provides quick and easy access to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and makes Resort Hopping a breeze, perfect for sampling delicious food and beverages at neighboring resorts on non-theme park days. It truly adds a whole new layer of convenience to your vacation!

Regarding your question, Disney typically notifies Guests of planned closures and refurbishments in a few key ways. The Disney Resorts Collection hotel websites often display an orange banner under the Resort’s photo if any scheduled refurbishments or closures might affect your stay. Additionally, updates are shared through the Disney Parks Blog and signs posted throughout the Resort property. As my fellow panelist Jennifer S so eloquently shared in a recent response, the My Disney Experience app does not currently provide advance notifications about transportation closures, including the Disney Skyliner.

I recommend visiting the Hours & Events Calendar on the Walt Disney World website to check for any planned refurbishments ahead of your visit. Select your travel dates to view any scheduled closures for attractions. If there isn’t a drop-down under the Theme Park, that means there isn’t anything known or planned for. For day-of updates, you can use the My Disney Experience app to monitor attraction wait times. Open the app and select the map pin icon (the stylized drop point) on the bottom of your screen, then ensure “Wait Times” is selected from the drop-down menu at the top center. If you notice a star icon over an attraction, this indicates a temporary closure. Keep checking back, though, as Cast Members work diligently to reopen attractions as quickly as possible for Guests to enjoy.

David, I hope this helps answer your question as you prepare for your vacation. If you think of anything else or need more tips, don’t hesitate to send another question my way. I’d love to help you make the most of your time at the Most Magical Place On Earth!
