My grandfather is a vet. Are we allowed to use discount on planning a Disney vacation including himself?

    Hi Tracey,

Welcome to planDisney! Military service is honored with several discounts at Disney World. I am glad to see that you all are taking a multi-generational Disney World vacation and bringing along your grandfather. I know being in a military family is not always easy so thank you all for your service and I hope this vacation is a good bonding experience for the whole crew!

Disney has a discounted ticket program for current and retired US Military members but these tickets must be purchased at your local US military base ticket office. The discounted tickets are called Disney Military Salute Tickets and can be purchased by Eligible Service Members or their spouse. Your grandfather will have to be present and show his ID to purchase these tickets. The great thing about these tickets is that you can purchase up to 6 discounted tickets for you, your family, and your friends who may be traveling with you to Disney World. As long as you are one of the 6 people visiting, you are good to go!

You can also add Memory Maker to your visit for a special military rate. I love Memory Maker because it lets everyone in your party get in the photo while a trained Disney PhotoPass Photographer takes pictures of you all in front of iconic locations. These pictures are some of my favorite family photos over the years! To add this service to your visit, you will need to stop by one of the theme park ticket windows and show your US Military ID. The beauty of this service is that only one of you will need to purchase it, and if you are all connected as "Family and Friends" in the My Disney Experience app, then you can download everyone in your travel group's photos. You will not regret making sure your grandfather is featured in tons of family photographs so you can capture the joy of your whole family experiencing Disney World together.

Disney World also has a special Resort available to current and some retired US Military members and their families. Check out the eligibility requirements to see if you qualify for a stay at the Shades of Green Resort. It is a beautiful resort with easy access to all that Disney World has to offer.

    Happy Planning,
    Jenna
