Hi Robert, and welcome to planDisney! I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with your
MagicBand+, but I’d be happy to help.
It sounds like you’ve already looked at the
troubleshooting suggestions on the Disney World website and tried doing a factory reset. As you know, you can do this by pressing the button on the back once, quickly followed by a second press that you hold for 15 seconds. But here’s the important part—you’ll know it’s working if you feel three haptic buzzes with rainbow colored lights. It usually takes me a couple of tries to get the timing of the button pressing right. When you’re successful, the lights will turn off and then green to signal that the reset is complete.
After the reset, you’ll need to pair your MagicBand+ in the
My Disney Experience app. Press ☰ in the lower right corner and go to MagicBands & Cards under Account. If you’ve never linked your band before, scroll down to Link Your MagicBand or Card. If it’s already linked, select your profile instead. Find your linked band and you should see a Pair button next to Bluetooth.
When you pair, it may prompt you to run an update at the same time. You’ll want to make sure you run all updates until you see the Up to Date message. The last time I did this, the Update button was still showing under MagicBand+ Updates after pairing. I ended up pressing the button and going through the update process a second time before it showed fully Up to Date. On this screen, you can also check your band’s battery level towards the top.
If you’re still having issues, I’d recommend calling the
App and MagicBand Support phone number. A Cast Member will be happy to continue troubleshooting in real time with you. And since it looks like you’ll be at Disney World tomorrow (so exciting!), you can also stop by
Guest Relations for help at the theme parks or
Disney Springs.
In the meantime, even if your MagicBand+ isn’t charged, you can still use the basic functionality, like scanning into theme park and
Lightning Lane entrances, opening your
Disney Resort hotel room door, and linking
PhotoPass pictures.
Before I go, I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss some of the fun things you can do with your MagicBand+ once it’s up and running again (and fully charged!). If you love Star Wars, you can use your MagicBand+ to play
Batuu Bounty Hunters in
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. And MagicBand+ will also interact with the gold
Disney Fab 50 Character statues throughout all four theme parks.
I’m wishing you the most magical visit ever to Disney World this week! And if you have any other questions, we’re always here for you at planDisney.
