Good Day! We are thinking of planning another trip to Disney this year. As a Canadian do we still get to make our lighting lane pass selection 7 days in advance like Americans? I can’t find reliable information anywhere!

Hello there Vanessa, I'm pleased to wish you the warmest Canadian welcome to planDisney!

When the current Lightning Lane Passes launched this summer, they were almost immediately met with many questions from fellow Canucks as to whether they would be able to purchase and book these ahead of their arrival in the United States. (This was especially challenging with some initial conflicting information online from folks who had asked Cast Members who were still learning and receiving the messaging while we at planDisney continued to provide the world with the correct information that I was even able to test out and confirm myself as soon as it launched!)

Thankfully you've come to us here where I'm happy to confirm that currently, Canadians can continue to take advantage of pre-arrival planning to purchase and book either Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Lightning Lane Single Pass up to 7 days ahead of their stay at a Disney Resort Hotel. If however you're not staying at a Disney Resort Hotel (which currently includes Shades of Green as well as the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve Hotels) you'll have to wait until 3 days ahead of your theme park visit. In my personal opinion, it's great to see that friends and family were able to do this from within the country without having to cross the border!

I was pleased to see that a page specific to Lightning Lane Passes has now been added to the Canadian version of the Walt Disney World Resort website, but bear in mind that according to the Disclaimer for Lightning Lane Passes, the My Disney Experience "App is intended for use in the US only. Currently, the app is only available in English." While those who are located in Canada can continue to use the My Disney Experience app, this unfortunately currently does not apply to other international guests located worldwide. Offerings and policies are always subject to change without prior notice, so while this is correct as of the time of writing - who knows whether any changes or updates may come in the future!

Something great about being Canadian is that you also get the chance to be eligible for some great offers, deals and discounts aimed at Canadian residents that have recently been popping up throughout the year so be sure to keep an eye on this when you can. In the meantime you can also reach out to Candace and Nilson, our fellow planDisney folks up north for any other answers before your trip!

Here's to all the Canadians who plan ahead for every Disney adventure!
