Hi friends! We booked the dining package at Plaza Inn to watch the Paint the Night Parade in May. It looks like we get to watch the first parade. Can you tell me where the viewing area is, and if we can stay for Wondrous Journeys, too?

Hey there, Amanda! Welcome back to planDisney, the happiest corner of the internet. The only thing better than pairing a meal with millions of dazzling lights is making the entire experience stress-free. Let's dish all the details for the Paint the Night Dining Package at the Plaza Inn.

A dining package is the perfect way to get a great viewing spot for one of my favorite nighttime parades, Paint the Night. My husband and I booked this package for our trip last year and would definitely do it again. When we checked in for our reservation, we received a lanyard and a ticket that gave us access to the reserved viewing area for the first parade. The viewing area is located in Town Square just across from the Opera House on Main Street, U.S.A. and conveniently near the churro cart (Hello, parade snack!). It was so nice knowing that a parade spot was being saved for us so we could go about and make the most of the rest of our day.

I just returned from a magical visit where we watched Paint the Night from an area nearby. When the parade was over, everyone dispersed fairly quickly. While you can absolutely stay in the area, it's not the most ideal spot to enjoy Wondrous Journeys. You won't be able to see a lot of the projections and, of course, Baymax soaring valiantly through the sky. Need I say more? You won't want to miss that. I remember the first time I experienced this nighttime spectacular with some very special and magical pals, a core memory for sure! I recommend making your way down Main Street, U.S.A. to really immerse yourselves in the magic of this nighttime spectacular.

If you arrive at the reserved viewing area early enough to get a spot on the curb, you just might get treated to some extra magic before the show. The past couple of times I've watched the parade in this area, Mickey, Minnie and some pals have come out to say hello to guests and perhaps shake out some of their jitters before having to get parade-ready. My husband and I got to high-five Mickey and wish him luck before he left. Pure magic!

Amanda, I hope this is helpful as you're putting the final touches on your magical trip. I know you'll keep moving forward with your plans, but if there's anything else that we can help with, please come back to see us. Now, before I go, I gotta know...when can we do this again?
