Hey there, Hannah! Welcome to planDisney. I am so glad you popped by with your question about waving your magic wand and making wishes come true.
You have a few options to buy an Annual Pass for a child who does not live with you. If you are at Walt Disney World Resort, you can purchase one in person.
You can also purchase an Annual Pass online. To see the passes available to Florida residents, you will need to log into your MyDisney account. If the child has a MyDisney account, you will want to connect with them so they appear in your Family & Friends list. If the child does not have a MyDisney account, you can create one for them. Follow the steps to add a Guest to your Family & Friends List to set up an account to be managed by you. Select the pass type you want to purchase and assign it to the child. Bibbidi Bobiddi Boo! You should be all set with the Annual Pass purchased for the child.
Since the child lives in another home, you will need to plan for how the child will access the ticket.
One thing to note: you cannot transfer a child's account to another adult. If you create the account and assign the pass to the child, once it is activated, you will continue to be the manager of that child's account and Annual Pass. I'll explain why this matters when you decide how to set up or connect to the child's account.
- The manager of the account can add the child's pass to Disney MagicMobile on their cell phone. Another adult cannot use Disney MagicMobile for the child.
- Anyone connected to the child can link a new MagicBand+ to their account, but only the account manager can manage the MagicBand+, including running the updates that are occasionally pushed to it.
- The person who purchased the ticket is the only one who can pick up a physical Key to the World card at a Ticket Center. If the child is visiting with another adult, they will need either a MagicBand+ or a physical card.
If you want to manage all aspects of the child's pass and access, creating the account will work. If there is another adult who would manage things like a MagicBand+ and using Disney MagicMobile, having that adult manage the account may be a simpler way to go.
Also, just for awareness: If you purchase an Annual Pass for yourself or another adult, the adults will need to provide proof of Florida residency, which can be done at a ticket center or online.
If you have any questions as you think through the options, you can ask me directly so we can continue the conversation. If you need help turning pumpkins into coaches, please come see me or any of us at planDisney. We'll add our wands to your magic!
