How far is the walk from the Fort Wilderness boat ramp to Circle D Ranch?

Happy trails, Rachel! I'm glad you've brought your planning question to us here at planDisney. I love a relaxing walk around Walt Disney World Resort, whether it's on a jogging trail at a resort, a wildlife path at Animal Kingdom, or a scenic stroll around the Boardwalk. I enjoy getting my steps in each day, and it appears that you do, too! Let's explore what options there are to get from the boat launch at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort to Tri-Circle-D Ranch.

Tri-Circle-D Ranch is split into two locations: the stable and the Trail Blaze Corral. The stable is located closest to the boat dock, just a short walk from Pioneer Hall, the Settlement Trading Post, and the Disney Vacation Club Welcome Home Center. You will pass each of those locations and end up at the Settlement Depot Bus Stop, then you will see the stable ahead on your right. I would estimate this walk to take about 10 minutes at a leisurely pace. The hours for this location are from 10AM to 5PM daily, and you can visit the horses, take pony rides, and learn the storied history of horses at Disney World.

The Trail Blaze Corral is up at the front entrance of Fort Wilderness and is quite a bit further from the boat dock. Please resist the temptation to walk on the main roads, as they will be busy with cars, trailers, RVs, golf carts, and buses. It's important to stay safely on the path and enjoy your walk through one of Disney World's most beautiful resorts! I estimate the walk up to the Trail Blaze Corral will take about 30 minutes or just slightly longer. Once there, you can enjoy some horseback riding which can be booked online or via the My Disney Experience app 60 days in advance.

All of that walking would have me working up an appetite, and Fort Wilderness has one of my favorite dining experiences on property. I'd hop on the internal bus system from the Outpost Depot bus stop, ride back to the Settlement Depot stop, then walk over to Pioneer Hall to enjoy dinner at the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue. Laugh, sing, and clap along with the Pioneer Hall players and chow down on all-you-care-to-enjoy fried chicken, ribs, coleslaw, mac and cheese, and cornbread. Oh, and be sure to save room for the strawberry shortcake!

I hope you enjoy your scenic walks at Fort Wilderness, Rachel! Have the best time seeing the horses and taking a few moments to unwind during your day. Please visit us again for more vacation planning tips, advice, and suggestions.

    Stay magical,
    Scott
