Hi! I have our family's Disneyland tickets and reservations saved on the app on my phone. One party member will be joining us later than expected. How can I get them (transfer?) their park reservation and ticket? Thank you!

Hi Lisa, and welcome back to planDisney! Managing a family trip to Disneyland can feel like wrangling a team of overexcited Toy Story aliens, but don’t worry, we’re here to make the process a whole lot easier!

The simplest way for your family member to manage their park reservation and ticket is by downloading the Disneyland app. Once they have the app on their mobile device, they can create a Disney account and link their ticket and reservation. To do this, they’ll need to tap the menu icon (the three horizontal lines) in the bottom right corner and select “My Tickets and Passes.” From there, they should click the plus icon in the top right corner to open the “Link Tickets and Passes” option. They can manually enter the barcode number for their ticket or use their camera to scan the barcode directly from your device. By following these steps, they’ll be able to manage their tickets and reservations with ease, like a true Disneyland pro!

One more note for you, Lisa! Even though they’ll have their ticket linked on their device, you can still purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass for the entire party and manage it from your phone. This can be a great way to ensure your whole family gets to experience attractions together. Just a couple of things to keep in mind:

Lightning Lane Multi Pass return times can only be booked for guests who have already scanned into either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure. While you can link a friend’s ticket ahead of time, you won’t be able to reserve a return time until they’ve entered a park.

To make sure your group gets the same return times, it’s best if only one person handles the bookings. Once a return time has been selected, guests won’t be able to book another until either 120 minutes have passed or they’ve scanned into their ride, whichever happens first. If someone in your party has already used their Lightning Lane selection, everyone will need to either wait two hours or until that person has scanned in.

And now, Lisa, here’s one more Lightning Lane Q-Tip for you! You can actually hold more than one Lightning Lane reservation at a time. Once you’ve booked a ride, you won’t be able to select another until either your current reservation is used or two hours have passed since booking. For example, if you grab a Matterhorn reservation at 9:00 a.m. for 4:00 p.m., you can still book another ride (like Haunted Mansion) at 11:00 a.m. without losing your Matterhorn return time. I like to set alarms on my phone or watch to remind me when it’s time to book another ride because nothing ruins a perfect park day like realizing you could’ve squeezed in one more attraction!

Lisa, I hope this helps! I know you and your family will have an absolutely magical visit. If you have any other questions, we’d love to see you again here at planDisney!

    Enjoy your visit!
