My family and I have never stayed at any of the Disneyland hotels before. We usually stay nearby within walking distance. Planning to splurge for an upcoming milestone celebration. Do you have any recommendations on which Disney hotel would be best?

Hi there, Alvin! Welcome to planDisney. There’s something extra magical about staying on property when visiting Disneyland. I know the giddiness I feel when I get the green light to book a stay at one of the hotels. While Disneyland Hotel, Pixar Place Hotel, and Grand Californian Hotel are all delightful in their own ways, let me tell you which one is my favorite!

Disneyland Hotel is steeped in Disney history with a blend of 1950s nostalgia and hints of Mary Blair, the legendary Imagineering artist, tied into a mid-century modern aesthetic. Across the way, you have Pixar Place Hotel, offering a contemporary style with bold colors inspired by Pixar’s beloved films and whimsical touches throughout.

I love both of those hotels dearly, but for me, nothing compares to the Grand Californian. From the moment you step into the great hall, you’re greeted by sky-high ceilings in a Craftsman style, along with unique touches inspired by California’s redwood forests and coastal areas. What I love most about this hotel is its close proximity to California Adventure, including its own entrance into the park that Guests staying on property are able to use.

I love getting to visit Storytellers Cafe with my family for character dining. This is always a hit, and especially with a toddler, the food is always plentiful and the characters keep us laughing. If you want to be dazzled, Napa Rose is always a hit with my family! They take locally sourced ingredients that reflect the Californian lifestyle and incorporate them into their dining menu. The unique flavors found on the menu almost have you forgetting that you’re at Disneyland Resort.

For this milestone celebration, I recommend booking a club-level room. This will give you access to club-level services such as afternoon tea, continental breakfast, a wine and cheese reception, and my favorite part, access to The Veranda, which is an awesome viewing spot for the Disneyland fireworks.

Alvin, thank you so much for visiting planDisney. Congratulations on your upcoming milestone celebration! No matter where you stay, I just know you’ll be in for a treat being so close to the magic.

With a Sprinkle of Pixie Dust,
