My family is looking to buy single rider passes for Mine Train. Can you do rider swap when buying those passes? My husband and I would both like to go on but we have a 5 year old who meets the height requirements and 2 year old that doesn’t meet them.

Hi Lauren, and welcome to planDisney! Rider Switch has been really helpful when I’m at Disney World with my nephews. And you can absolutely use it with Lightning Lane Passes, which is great for saving time on your vacation. So let’s chat about how it’ll work for your family.

First, you’ll need to purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train for you, your husband, and your 5-year-old. When your Lightning Lane return time comes, head to the ride and let a Cast Member at the entrance know you’d like to use Rider Switch. They’ll scan the MagicBand or Key to the World Card of your husband and the person who will ride twice (this can be your 5-year-old, which is a great opportunity to ride with both of you). Then you and your 5-year-old will scan into the Lightning Lane entrance to go on the ride first.

While you’re zipping through the gem-filled mines, your husband can wait nearby with your 2-year-old (I like to take my nephews to Casey Jr. Splash ’N’ Soak Station near Dumbo... and actually the play area inside the queue for that attraction is another favorite spot!). Once you’re done, you can take over watching your 2-year-old, and your husband and 5-year-old can head to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and scan into the Lightning Lane entrance.

Before I go, I wanted to share some tips for visiting with little ones! First, I find it really helpful to use the My Disney Experience app to view all of the attractions your kiddos are tall enough to ride. In the app, go to the location icon at the bottom of the screen (looks like an upside-down teardrop). Select Attractions at the top and then filter by Locations and Height. I usually select Show List at the bottom right corner so I can scroll and see everything that matches the criteria.

Second, the Baby Care Centers were a lifesaver when my nephews needed a quiet space to chill out or eat. You’ll find them in all four theme parks, and they have rocking or gliding chairs, a changing room with tables, a feeding area with high chairs, and a kitchenette with a microwave and sink. You can also purchase items like baby food, wipes, and diapers, in case you left anything in your hotel room.

I’m wishing you a magical vacation with your family next week! And if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
