Hi! We’re excited to spend the 4th of July at Disneyland and are especially looking forward to the fireworks. We booked the Plaza Inn Paint the Night package—if a fireworks package is offered later, will our reservation convert or will we need to rebook?

Hi Kristina! Welcome back to planDisney. Spending the Fourth of July at Disneyland sounds like an incredible way to celebrate, especially with all the nighttime entertainment planned for the holiday. I’m happy to help you map out your evening!

Unfortunately, the dining package you booked is specifically connected to the “Paint the Night” parade and would not automatically convert to a fireworks dining package if one becomes available later. If Disneyland releases a separate fireworks viewing package (whether at Plaza Inn or another dining location), you would need to book that experience separately.

If you decide you’d rather switch experiences later, you can manage or cancel your current reservation by visiting “My Dining and Activity Reservations” on the Disneyland website or by opening the Disneyland app and selecting “My Plans.”

Here’s a little Q-Tip about the “Paint the Night” dining package viewing area: the reserved section is typically located in Town Square Plaza, directly across from the stairs leading to the Disneyland Railroad Main Street Station. Even with reserved viewing, I still recommend arriving a bit early since other dining package guests will also be finding their spots. It’s one of the best ways to enjoy the parade without the stress of holding a curb spot for hours along Main Street, U.S.A.

If fireworks viewing is especially important to you, I would also recommend having a quick exit strategy after the parade concludes. While the Town Square viewing area does offer some fireworks visibility, portions of the show can be difficult to see from that location because of trees, buildings, and viewing angles near the front entrance of Disneyland. My suggestion would be to exit the viewing area shortly after the final parade float passes and head a little farther up Main Street for a more complete view of the fireworks over Sleeping Beauty Castle. Cast Members nearby should also be happy to help guide you toward the best available viewing areas that evening.

Kristina, I hope this helps you feel even more prepared for your Independence Day celebration at Disneyland! If you have any additional questions or would like other tips on how to spend your visit, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us again at planDisney.

Have a fantastic Fourth of July visit!
