Hiya Diana!
Welcome to planDisney! Spending at least 10 days in Walt Disney World Resort sounds amazing! No mad dash to get everything done in one day when you know there are more chances to try again soon! I'm going to get some price quotes for you but know that all prices are subject to change.
A 10-day
standard Theme Park Ticket with the Water Park and Sports Option for arrival on May 8, 2024, will be approximately $864.94 for one adult. This ticket option lets you visit one of the four main Theme Parks which are Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park one time per day. You can then visit a water park once per day for the length of your ticket as well. For example, you could enjoy Magic Kingdom Park in the morning and then spend the afternoon cooling down at
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park or
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park. I don't know which water park will be open when you arrive as sometimes they alternate their closures for refurbishment and then jointly open for the warmer months.
A 9-day standard Theme Park Ticket for one Park per day costs approximately $772.41 with tax and when combined with a 1-day Water Park Ticket of $78.81 the total is $851.22. This is slighter cheaper but with this ticket, you are only able to visit a water park for one day of your trip. Your other nine days will be spent enjoying one theme park per day.
Now, there is a new water park ticket option called the Disney Water Park Seasonal Pass which is valid through May 24, 2024. The price for an adult ticket is $84.14 including tax and there are no blockout dates. You can visit a Disney water park every day of your trip until May 24, 2024. If you choose to buy the seasonal pass with the 9-day standard theme park ticket you are looking to pay around $856.55. That's a less than $10 difference than if you just bought the 10-day standard Theme Park ticket with Water Park and Sports option. At least with this ticket, you can also visit Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf Course or Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course as well!
Since the prices between your two suggestions are not too different, your decision has to go beyond what is most "economical" and focus on what is more "practical." What do you feel like doing on your upcoming vacation? Do you want to spend every day or one day at a water park? If staying onsite at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel would you be satisfied with the water play at the pools there instead of a water park? Right now, the complimentary transportation options to the water parks may require a transfer or a midpoint stop. Many of the Resort Hotels will transport you to Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park where you will then transfer to a bus to a water park. Sometimes the transfer/wait point is Disney Springs. Right now, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort has a direct bus to Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park and this is a transfer point for other guests leaving from other Resorts. Your mileage may vary but these are currently the complimentary transportation options. May 2024 is a long way away and anything could change. Sometimes, during the summer months, I have seen more direct buses to the water parks from the Resorts but it is not guaranteed. Why am I telling you this? It's because spending every day in the water parks could take a lot of travel time. You could consider using a rideshare service or the delightful Minnie Van™ service but that is an additional cost that you have to plan for. I hope this helps with your decisions!
Happy Planning!
