Are DVC members without a resort reservation, able to go to Resorts to eat at the restaurants? Our DC members able to use the transportation, even if they are not staying at the resort?

Hi Shelly, welcome home and welcome to planDisney! I know how important the transportation benefit is for Walt Disney World stays. It’s one of the main reasons we selected Disney’s Riviera Resort as one of our Disney Vacation Club Home Resorts. Our family simply loves the Skyliner and sometimes ride it for the experience alone. Now, let’s soar on over to your question!

I know there’s been a lot of discussion these days about transportation at Walt Disney World, so let’s talk through what you’re able to do. The biggest change occurred in late June, which limits those who can board buses and boats from Disney Springs to Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests or those with a dining or an Enchanting Extra reservation for the Resort they are visiting. Unfortunately, a DVC Member without either a Resort stay, dining reservation, or experience reservation will not be able to board these transportation options from Disney Springs. Shelly, I know you mentioned wanting to eat at other restaurants. So if you have a dining reservation, you’ll have no trouble boarding a bus to that Resort!

However, you’ll be happy to know that other transportation options such as the Monorail, the Skyliner, or buses from the theme parks to Resort hotels are currently not affected. So, you’re still free to visit the other Resorts using these transportation options! If you won’t be staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you can always park at one of the theme parks and use the transportation available there to visit a Resort. If you’re an Annual Passholder, don’t forget that parking at the theme parks is free, even when you’re not staying at a Disney Resort hotel and during blackout dates! I purchased the Disney Sorcerer Pass available to us out-of-state DVC Members and it’s been great to use the free parking benefit when we do day trips to the Orlando area!

Shelly, I hope this clears things up a bit. If you have any further questions on getting the most out of your DVC membership, feel free to contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
