Hi Maureen,
The
Holidays at Disney World are extra magical! There is so much to see and do at Disney World during the Christmas season that it is hard to even know where to start. Each Disney Resort hotel and theme park is decked out in its holiday finest and displays its unique interpretation of the holidays for us to explore.
In past years a Christmas Eve and Christmas Day religious service has been offered in varying degrees. Some years there have been in-person services held at one of the Disney Resort hotels with a convention center, there have been live-streamed services, and some years there have been no religious services offered. Since this is something that changes from year to year, I would keep an eye on the
Official Disney Parks Blog for announcements about whether or not services will be offered this year. I would not expect to see anything until much closer to your vacation.
If a traditional in-person service is a must for you on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe is located close to Disney World. This is one of the closest options for Catholic Mass and I have heard they offer a lot of options for service times during the holiday season. You will need to secure your own transportation there since it is not affiliated with Disney World. Luckily, rideshare services are super easy to catch while at Disney World.
Another wonderful option to celebrate the story of Christmas while on your vacation is by attending the Candlelight Processional at EPCOT. This is a beautiful and moving event where a celebrity narrator, choir, and orchestra combine to tell the story of Christmas. It is one of the many events that make up the
International Festival of the Holidays at EPCOT! While wandering around at this event make sure to save room for delicious foods from all over the world. There will be Holiday Booths set up throughout EPCOT delivering the taste of the holidays from all over the world.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
