Hi there, Elizabeth, and welcome to planDisney!
I can’t go one day without my Apple Watch, so you can imagine I love that I can use it to tap into the magic at the Disney Parks. It is my pleasure to share what I know about the capabilities of your devices when you’re at The Most Magical Place on Earth.
While you can use an Apple Watch to enter the theme parks, scan for your Disney PhotoPass photos, and tap into Lightning Lane touch points, you can’t use it to enter your Disney Resorts Collection hotel room. But alas! Not only can you use a MagicBand+ or physical card to enter your room, but you can use a connected smartphone that and the other aforementioned actions via
Disney MagicMobile Service.
MagicMobile Service will need to be set up even if you only plan to use your smartwatch, because with this service, you are essentially creating a digital ticket for your devices. First things first, double check that your ticket is linked to your MyDisney account. In the My Disney Experience App, click on the three horizontal lines in the corner of the menu and find “Set Up MagicMobile Entry.” There, you can create a digital card to place in your devices’ digital wallets.
I tend to use my smartphone and Apple Watch the most at the theme parks, but I often find myself wearing a
MagicBand+ because I like the ease of simply placing it against a touch point (or hotel room door) and getting straight to where I need to go. A MagicBand+ also adds special Disney magic to your trip because it can interact with various elements across the theme parks. One of my new favorite interactions is the light-up “firefly magic” while riding the brand-new attraction,
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
I have a feeling that no matter what devices you use, you’re in for an amazing time, Elizabeth. If you have any other questions about your upcoming vacation,
revisit us here at planDisney. See you real soon!
Magic always,
LeAndra
