Greetings, Kaylee, and welcome once again to planDisney!
We do so appreciate our return patrons, and your question put a huge smile on my face! In addition to being a planDisney panelist, I'm also a small animal veterinarian, so I get a lot of questions about what's safe to feed to a dog. It would be my pleasure to talk about one of my favorite Disneyland Resort snacks: the DOLE Whip!
This tasty treat can be purchased from the
Tiki Juice Bar or
The Tropical Hideaway and is the perfect snack to help cool off on a hot day. It was first introduced to Disneyland Park in 1986 and has been delighting Park-goers ever since. The fruit flavors are vegan and dairy/gluten/lactose free with no cholesterol (the
Coconut flavor contains some dairy - thanks to
Elaine for the research). I even went through the Dole Soft Serve ingredients list on the Dole website and I'm happy to report that there is nothing listed that is inherently toxic to our canine companions, so go ahead and share that creamy DOLE Whip with your furry friend. Of course, every dog can have individual allergies and everything should be consumed in moderation, so use your best judgement.
Do you have a source for DOLE Whips back home or do you use a
recipe? If not, I'm interested to see how you transport your DOLE Whip from the Parks back to your pup! I'm particularly excited about trying the new
Coconut-Pineapple DOLE Whip at
Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel! It comes in a Matterhorn cup to celebrate this attraction's 65th Anniversary.
Don't forget to celebrate National DOLE Whip Day which falls on July 18 this year, so you might even be there! Keep your eye on the
Disney Parks Blog to see if they announce anything.
Kaylee, thanks for letting me go down a rabbit hole on DOLE Whips and I hope you found this interesting. I hope you're having fun planning for your upcoming trip and I wish you a magical visit! We'll see ya real soon!
Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!
