A very warm greetings to you, Susie!
Welcome to planDisney and thanks for bringing your question to us! How exciting to see that you have a trip to the Disneyland Resort coming up in about a week and that you'll be staying at my favorite of the Disneyland Resort Hotels, the original
Disneyland Hotel! It opened alongside Disneyland Park in 1955 (a few months after the Park, to be exact) and has managed to retain its Twentieth Century charm but still keep up to date with the latest in modern design elements.
I love the
Pools of the Disneyland Hotel, especially on a hot, sunny Southern California day! The entire pool area is spread out enough that it doesn't feel too congested and you have several different pools to select from all in the same area. My kids and I recently enjoyed a stay over Father's Day and had a great time with our pool day.
Currently, the website states that the 25-foot high Orange Monorail waterslide is down for refurbishment and that was our experience when we visited. However, the 13-foot high Yellow Monorail slide is open so you'll be able to use that waterslide to make a splashdown. You can even head over to the palette-shaped pool at
The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel and enjoy their Steamboat Willie splash pad!
I called and spoke to a Cast Member at the Hotel to try and get more specifics on when both Monorail Slides would be operational but unfortunately, he didn't have more details on an opening date. The website states that the Orange Slide is scheduled to reopen this summer and he recommended keeping an eye on the website for updates.
Susie, I wish you the most fabulous time during your visit to the Disneyland Resort! Be sure to take advantage of
Early Entry benefits since you're staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Quiet mornings in the Theme Parks are so magical and you can even head back to your room to relax when it gets hotter! If you have more questions, please feel free to send them our way. We're always happy to help a fellow Guest!
Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!
