Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us a question.
I just got back from a visit to Walt Disney World Resort with my goddaughter who has Celiac and, let me tell you, she had the most MAGICAL time! She always found safe and delicious food to eat at each Disney Dining location that we visited. One of her absolute favourites was the gluten free pasta at
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (she said it was the first time she had eaten spaghetti in a restaurant since her diagnosis a few years ago) but she really didn’t have a problem finding food at any of the places we visited. She also LOVED the gluten free churros at the
Nomad Lounge at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park and our breakfast at
Boma - Flavors of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
My biggest tip: when you’re looking at the menus of any Disney Dining location, don’t just look at the “allergy” section. Modifications may be possible for some of the meals that aren’t automatically flagged as being gluten free, but that may be safe for people with celiac to eat with a few modifications. For example, sometimes the filet mignon meal at various restaurants wasn’t flagged as gluten free due to the sauce that typically comes with the dish, but we were able to ask for that sauce to be removed without any problems. Also, some of the options on the Kids Menus may be able to be adapted for a gluten-free diet, too.
For more information about how Walt Disney World Resort handles allergy-friendly, please visit the
Special Dietary Requests page.
Finally, I highly recommend that you make
Disney Dining reservations for each day of your visit. While reservations aren’t required, many restaurants can book up quickly, which means that your choices may be limited if you didn’t reserve in advance. Plus, you’ll be able to note your gluten allergy on your reservation the moment you make it, which will help ensure a safe experience for you when you dine there.
Note that
quick service locations don’t require reservations, but the menus can often be more limited for Guests with allergies. Again, please check the menus online to get a better idea of what your options may be.
Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions or if you want any specific gluten free recommendations for your upcoming trip.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
