Ahoy, Jennifer! Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your question about Disney Gift Cards and Disney Cruise Line. I’m happy to help!
My in-laws always say I’m the easiest person in the family to shop for because they know a Disney Gift Card is the way to my heart... and they’re right! I’m sure you’re on Santa’s nice list too, and one might just end up in your stocking this year.
I can confirm from personal experience that you can absolutely use Disney Gift Cards to pay both your deposit and your remaining balance on a Disney Cruise, since I’ve done it myself. To be extra certain, I also reached out to Disney Cruise Line, and the Cast Member I chatted with confirmed that you can use Disney Gift Cards purchased in Canada as well. Each gift card is processed as its own form of payment, so you’re welcome to use multiple cards and make multiple payments in installments. It’s not a structured payment plan from Disney, but it's a flexible, self-managed payment schedule that you create yourself. You are required to make a deposit to book, and then you can make partial payments of any amount at any time until the final payment is due.
However, if you need to use more than one gift card for your deposit or last payment, you’ll want to
call Disney Cruise Line directly, as the online system can’t process multiple forms of payment. Another option is to try combining your cards using the
Disney Gift Card website. I’ve used it before (mine weren’t Canadian cards, but it’s still worth a try!).
And a helpful tip from my Canadian friend,
Candace is when Canadian Disney Gift Cards are redeemed, the balance is converted into U.S. dollars using the previous day’s exchange rate. Your remaining balance will then display in U.S. funds on your receipt.
I hope this helps as you plan your cruise next year, Jennifer! If you need help planning any other part of your vacation, you know where to find us.
Sea ya real soon,
Eean
