Hello Haley,
Welcome to planDisney! It’s great to chat with a fellow Canadian, thanks so much for asking a great question about
Disney Gift Cards. They are a great way for Canadians to save money when travelling to
Walt Disney World Resort so let’s take a closer look.
Canadians cannot purchase Disney Gift Cards in U.S. funds in Canada, we can purchase physical Disney Gift Cards in Canadian funds (available at major grocery retailers). These Gift Cards can be used to purchase theme park tickets, dining, merchandise and more! When these Canadian Disney Gift Cards are redeemed for purchases, the funds will be converted into American dollars using the exchange rate from the previous day. Any remaining funds on the card will be shown on your receipt and in U.S. funds. So many Canadians purchase Canadian Disney Gift Cards because they are not charged additional conversion fees as you would with many credit cards. Gift Cards can also be a really good way to budget for a trip!
If you're looking to buy Disney Gift Cards in U.S. dollars, you can get an e-Gift Card from various retailers or directly through the
Disney Store website. In my experience, it usually takes a day or two for the e-Gift Card to show up in my inbox. I like to store it in my phone's digital wallet and add it as a payment method in the
My Disney Experience Mobile App. This makes it easy to use the e-Gift Card for
Mobile Food & Beverage Orders or when shopping with Merchandise Mobile Checkout.
If you purchase multiple Disney Gift Cards, you can combine them on www.disneygiftcard.com. Here, you can check the balance on your cards and keep track of them by giving them a nickname. To note: you cannot combine currencies so you must keep Canadian and American Gift Cards separate.
Haley, I hope this information is helpful to your adventures and I hope everything goes well with your vacation planning! Please visit planDisney again soon!
Make magical memories,
Candace
