Ahoy Danielle!
We're so glad you sailed over to planDisney with your question. I just finished booking my family's next Disney Cruise Line itinerary (we're dreaming of warm ocean breezes as we prepare for another weekend snowstorm), so I'm happy to help you get a jump start on your packing list.
You are correct that many appliances and electrical items are listed as
Prohibited and Restricted Items. While you won't be able to pack an electric iron or steamers, you'll be glad to know that laundry facilities (complete with irons and ironing boards) are available for guest use on every ship. If your wrinkle release spray doesn't do the trick, use your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to locate the nearest laundry facility to your stateroom.
I understand that you have additional destinations on your pre- or post-cruise itinerary and might need a steamer at those times. If you will be arriving at the cruise terminal in your own vehicle, I recommend keeping your steamer safely stowed there while you sail. If you won't have a place to store it, expect any prohibited items found in your checked luggage to be confiscated during the security screening process. Note that this can also delay luggage delivery to your stateroom.
Confiscated items found in checked luggage, as well as any purchased in ports of call (like liquor, spirits, or excess wine and beer, for example), can be retrieved in the cruise terminal after debarkation. My pal
Amy A. offered some helpful tips and reassurance to another guest you can review here as you prepare for your sailing.
Danielle, I hope this helps iron out those last-minute worries as you prepare for your online check-in window to open. If this is your first Disney Cruise Line sailing, you can begin the process 30 days ahead of your embarkation date. If you are a returning
Castaway Club Member, you can select a Port Arrival Time and complete the check-in process according to your tier.
Please come back and see us again with any additional questions. We're always glad to help.
Bon Voyage!
Amy
