I will need a power cord for my POST cruise vacation, but my cruise is first. Will the cruise ship hold my prohibited extension cord and give it back to me after the cruise?

    Hi Patrick,

Welcome back to planDisney! Thanks for asking an important question about your upcoming cruise. You’re smart to have reviewed the Prohibited Items list in advance and think through the logistics for your post-cruise needs. I’ve had an item held before and am happy to walk you through what to expect.

We cannot encourage you to knowingly bring prohibited items to port attempting to bring them onboard, but I understand your situation. If you cannot purchase the needed power cord after your sailing for the second part of your journey, here's what I advise. While the port doesn’t necessarily offer a place to store items during your cruise, if a prohibited item is found there is a process and it’s easy to follow. I suggest you bring the power cord in your carry-on bag so that you are proactive with the Security team rather than it being found in your checked bag and taken without you being present. If it is discovered in your checked bag, you will find a friendly note in its place when you unpack with the item description, reason, and instructions for retrieval at the end of your cruise. Either way, the holding process is the same.

Prohibited items not allowed onboard for safety reasons will be held for the duration of the cruise with accompanying light paperwork for the Guest’s contact information. When you disembark, there will be a location at the port to retrieve these items. In my experience, it was a table near the main exit with a Crew Member to check your identification and match you with the prohibited item for return. The process was quick, easy, and there was no judgment of me or my item, which made me feel at ease.

I hope this information eases your mind so you can get onto more exciting things, like finalizing your vacation details! Be sure to download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app before your cruise, and continue to review the updated Guide to Updated Experiences for the latest policies.

There is so much to see and enjoy, both onboard and in beautiful ports of call, that there’s nothing quite like a Disney Cruise Line vacation. Please bring us any other questions as you get ready to set sail, Patrick.

    Wishing you a magical voyage,
    Amy
