We are going Disney in April. My boys will be 10 and 7 what essentials shall I bring for them. I want to get them some nice gifts for Christmas but everything seems to be more geared towards girls

Hi there and welcome to planDisney!

How exciting that you'll be visiting Walt Disney World next April and what a lovely idea to get some gifts for Christmas, for your two boys, to get them excited for your trip.

As the Mum of a 22-year old son and 8-year old daughter, both of whom are lucky enough to have grown up with regular visits to Walt Disney World, I have to say that I completely agree with you - boys are definitely harder to buy for than girls!

I'm taking a little trip down memory lane and casting my mind back to when my son was around the same age as your boys and what he used to like or, would have liked, should it have been available then.

    Here's my suggestions:-

1/ A Disney t-shirt with their favourite character on. In my experience characters always make an extra fuss when Guests are dressed like them.
2/ A personalised autograph book and some sharpies, ready for collecting those all-important autographs, when you arrive.
3/ Some Disney pins for them to exchange during your visit. My son used to absolutely love Pin Trading and my daughter, who is around the same age as your boys, loves it too! It's a fantastic, free activity for them to do throughout your trip and a great way to interact with Cast Members too.
4/ A few US dollars in a nice money wallet each so they have some of their own money to spend whilst there.
5/ A Disney-themed insulated water bottle to use during your visit. My family always bring these which we re-fill with free cups of iced water from Quick-Service dining locations each day - saves a fortune on drinks!

I hope that this has given you some ideas and that you have a brilliant time when you visit Walt Disney World next year. Please feel free to re-visit us, here at planDisney, if we can be of any other help with the planning of your trip. You can even ask me a question directly, if you would like a UK perspective on anything at all.

Wishing you a magical holiday filled with memories which will last a lifetime!
