Hi Colleen!
Welcome to planDisney! The Disneyland Resort works hard to accommodate disabilities, I'd love to share those resources with you. We want everyone to have a magical time!
There are a bunch of great guides and recommendations for guests with disabilities on the Disneyland website. Beyond those ideas, the resort does offer Disability Access Service (often called DAS) for guests with developmental disabilities (such as autism) that prevents them from waiting in a conventional queue for an extended time period. I recommend
registering for DAS online before you visit the parks, although you can also register in person at Accessibility Services outside the park entrance.
To register for DAS online you will need to have a live video chat with a Cast Member who will determine your eligibility for the program. Video chats are available between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM Pacific time, and the guest with the disability needs to be present (along with a parent or guardian if the disabled guest is under 18). When you and your son are ready, scroll
to the bottom of this page and click "Request Live Chat" to get started.I find the
Sensory Experience Details Guide incredibly helpful for preparing kids to visit the parks. It lists a variety of ride elements and effects that might be uncomfortable and tells you which rides have those experiences. It's really comprehensive! The
Accessibility Planning Guide and Recommendations is another super detailed resource and includes some great strategies to prepare for your trip and make your time in the parks more comfortable.
I hope you're able to have a lovely time visiting the parks, Colleen!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
