Hello Rebecca, welcome to planDisney! To say I am jealous that your daughter’s school trip is a visit to the
Walt Disney World Resort, would be an understatement! I remember thinking how lucky I was when a teacher rolled a box TV into the classroom on a Friday afternoon, I couldn’t imagine being told to pack my bags and head to Disney World! Lucky her!
I chatted with an amazing Cast Member regarding your situation, as I have never tried linking a reservation to a Guest on my Family & Friends List that I wasn’t traveling with, and this is what I was told.
Disney Resort Collection hotel reservations require one adult 18 years of age or older to occupy each room, so it is typical for large groups, like school trips, to assign one adult to the room and then add the younger Guests to the reservation. Assuming this is how your daughter’s trip was booked, the Guest responsible for the room should log into My Disney Experience, select My Family & Friends, ensure “My List is Shared” is turned on, and then add your daughter to their
Family & Friends List. This should allow the adult Guest to link the reservation themselves to your daughter’s managed profile that is under your Disney account.
If the above works smoothly, the only thing you will need to do to ensure your daughter’s old MagicBand will work is to either sign into your My Disney Experience account (if you manage your daughter) or have your daughter sign into her My Disney Experience account (if she is 13 or older) and select My MagicBands and Cards. Find her profile, click on the arrow next to her name, and there you will see all the MagicBands or Cards that have been linked to her profile. If the MagicBand is no longer listed, simply scroll to the Link a MagicBand section of the page and click Link. You will be taken to another screen where you can input the ID Number located on the backside of the MagicBand, assign it to her profile, and like magic, her band will be linked! Fun fact, if you have the
My Disney Experience app, you can click the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the bottom corner, then MagicBands and More, Link your MagicBand or Card, and then tap her band to your mobile device, just like at the parks, and it will be linked that way! Pretty awesome, right?
Finally, you or your daughter should then select My Plans in My Disney Experience, hover over Park Tickets, and select Link Tickets. On the next screen, you will input the ID Number associated with the card (examples of where the number can be located are provided) and then assign the ticket to your daughter’s profile. After that, her hotel reservation, MagicBand, and Theme Park admissions ticket should all be linked appropriately, and she can enjoy her visit!
However, sometimes technology can be finicky, so if the above steps aren’t working, no worries, your daughter can ask the Cast Member working at the resort check-in or visit a
Guest Relations location found at all the entrances to the theme parks for assistance with ensuring everything is linked and working properly!
I hope this helps answer your question, Rebecca. If you need any further guidance or clarification, please
submit me a question, or you can submit another question to
planDisney and one of the amazing panelists we will be able to explain in more detail!
Thanks,
Brent
