James, thank you for coming to planDisney with your
Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning question! A few years ago, when we were preparing for a visit, we made a night out of letting our children pick
MagicBands for themselves and my wife and me. They had a blast searching through all the different options offered through
My Disney Experience and
shopDisney. My wife ended up with a pink glittery band and they chose a Toy Story-themed band for me, and we have been using them on every visit since! On a visit last month, after buying theme park tickets online, I was able to assign each ticket to a Guest on my
Family & Friends List and everything was linked to the MagicBand on record from prior visits and we were able to head straight to our favorite park,
Hollywood Studios!
Like my example above, if you are booking your upcoming visit through the same Disney account that was used to book a prior visit in which your MagicBands were linked, you should have been able to select Guests from your Family & Friends List to be added to each park admission ticket and thus, the MagicBand/MagicBand+ associated with that Guest.
To check that this took place automatically, I would suggest visiting the Walt Disney World website, hovering over MyDisneyExperience, and selecting My MagicBands and Cards. After signing in, scroll down to the Manage MagicBands or Cards section to see if your MagicBands are listed under each Guest in your party. If a Guest is missing a MagicBand/MagicBand+ associated with their name, you can follow the instructions under the Link a MagicBand section.
If you need to add a Guest to your Friends & Family List, or, if you need to link your tickets to your account, hover over MyDisneyExperience again and select My Plans. On the following page, you will see five circles for the major planning tools: Family & Friends, Resort Hotel, Park Tickets, Park Reservations, and Dining. To add to your Family & Friends list, simply select Add a Guest and input their information. To link park tickets, select Link Tickets, and input the ID number associated with each ticket. *Examples of where to locate the ID number are provided on the same screen.
If you run into any issues, James, you can always visit
Guest Relations located at the entrance to all of the theme parks, or swing by the front desk of your
Disney Resort Collection hotel to have a friendly Cast Member assist you with ensuring everything is linked correctly!
See you real soon!
