What date do gingerbread houses close

Welcome to planDisney, Michelle! True love’s kiss may solve many problems in a place like Andalasia from Enchanted and Disenchanted, but here at the Walt Disney World Resort, a sprinkle of pixie dust does the trick every time!

The decorations at the Walt Disney World Resort during the holiday season are pretty epic. While the magic is always here at the Most Magical Place on Earth, it shines a little brighter during this festive season, like something straight out of a spellbinding Disenchanted scene. One of my favorite things to do around this time of year is to go on a gingerbread hunt and visit all of the Gingerbread Displays at the Disney Resorts Collection Hotels and EPCOT. They are just so fun, beautiful, and truly works of art! Plus, the treats that are usually for sale in or around them don't hurt.

While there is no hard and fast date for when the gingerbread displays close, they are typically available through January 1st. After that, the decorations around the resort will start to come down pretty rapidly. By the second week of January, most traces of the holiday season are gone, just like Giselle’s dreams of the perfect fairytale life when reality sets in. It’s almost like that bittersweet moment when you finish the last bite of a perfect DOLE Whip. Goodbye, sweetness, but hello to the next magical adventure! Since a specific schedule isn’t posted, we don’t know which displays will come down first, so it’s best to ensure you’ve seen what you must see by January 1st. Anything else is a bonus!

Now, while I love to see those beautiful displays, there’s something special about the parks returning to their magical selves. The Walt Disney Imagineers, expert storytellers that they are, craft these rich, detailed, and immersive environments, which stand on their own without the holiday enhancements. And they will be hard at work with all of the additions coming in 2025 and beyond! Plus, these intricate details aren't just limited to the theme parks. They also extend to the resort hotels. For me, the cozy richness of mahogany furniture in some of the resort lobbies feels like an enchantment at any time of the year.

Michelle, enjoy all of the magic around you, and may it follow you throughout the new year. Should you need a guide, just call on my planDisney friends. We’re always here to make sure your dreams don’t disenchant!

    Warm wishes and magical spells,
    Matt
